It’s nearly impossible to find a reliable trades person these days. It seems to be saturated with rip-off merchants or, like the story shows, blatant cowboys.
Is it not common to ask for references or check if a contractor has the proper licenses in the UK before hiring them?
Anyone using a tradesman needs to use a credit card. We should normalise it as anything else is taking on great risk.
Is there anything like a Chartered society of builders, plumbers, electricians, etc?
You know a body that regulates the individual trade disciplines?
Just seems like an easy thing to have to help ensure a certain level of standard and conduct for consistency.
