He’s an idiot, and it caused a lot of problems, but an actual 4 months sentence seems excessive when you hear what some people get suspended sentences for. Especially when we’re meant to be saving our limited prison spaces for the worst of the worst.

Kind of a stupid rule. I don’t see what’s wrong with looking up a term that you don’t understand, in fact it seems like a good thing to look up.

The judge’s comments sum it up nicely:
“I accept you were not motivated by malice, and that the responsibility of being a juror, particularly in such a serious case, weighed heavily upon you.
“But there are very good reasons why people are told not to undertake their own research”.
