In WW II and unlike the Czechs, the Slovaks formed a [collaborationist puppet state for the Germans](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slovak_Republic_(1939%E2%80%931945)) led by Jozef Tiso. The shame of this collaboration explains why modern historiography in Slovakia makes a big deal about [the failed and short-lived uprising of 1944 in Banská Bystrica](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slovak_National_Uprising) to “prove” that Slovaks weren’t *that* bad as collaborators.

No, this government won´t “finance”, but they will happily continue “SELLING” weapons to Ukraine. As the government is already doing, and has never actually stopped. So, in essence, the weapons will still end up in Ukraine. Supporting the Ukrainian army. Against Russia. But of course, Fico´s supporters only hear A and won’t connect it to B, let alone to Z-eliminating conclusions. Rinse and repeat until we are actually fucked and he flees to God-knows-where instead of protecting “his” country.
It is a classic word salad from Fico´s government and, yea, we Slovaks who did not vote for it are all sick&tired of it.
The focus is on “financing”. Since Fico came to the power, Slovakian arms and ammunition exports to Ukraine almost doubled. He just wants other people to pay for it.
I simply don’t understand how Slovaks can be so deranged as to elect someone who is openly pro Russia like this guy.
