Looked good in theory but the ‘world class’ British Civil Service couldn’t organise it properly. And the Government was taken to court for not providing nice enough accommodation for people who had arrived on our shores uninvited.
It seems a panicked response by Labour (who got rid of the Barge – probably more press release than enacted policy.
Yes I believe nearly everyone who arrives should be detained in a secure camp (I assume these are not going to be secure camps), but the Human Rights Act etc won’t allow the Government to inconvenience the boat people this way.
>Discussions are under way over the use of two sites – one in Scotland, the other in the south of England – for accommodation for 900 men, as first reported in the Times.

If the cost is lower and can be managed better, is there a reason why not? I am not a reform voter.
The barracks in Scotland has been used before – but they were phased out in favour of hotels.

Why that’s a whole day’s worth of arrivals!
