Several drones were spotted above the Marche-en-Famenne military base on Saturday. This was reported by Defence Minister Theo Francken on X. ‘This was not the work of amateurs, but of skilled drone pilots,’ he wrote. In recent months, drones have been spotted above military bases in various places in Europe with increasing frequency.
‘On Saturday evening, our barracks guard in Marche-en-Famenne noticed several drones flying over crucial parts of our army brigade headquarters for an extended period of time,’ Francken writes. ‘This was not the work of amateurs, but of skilled drone pilots. The procedures were followed correctly.’
The police and intelligence services are investigating the matter.
‘I will urge the government to purchase drone detection systems as soon as possible,’ Minister Francken told Het Laatste Nieuws. ‘We also urgently need shotguns and drone guns to shoot these devices out of the air. We do have these capabilities, but they are located at air force bases for the protection of our aircraft.’
Marche-en-Famenne is the most important military base of the Belgian Army and of high strategic importance.

How high are these things flying and why not shoot them if they think they might be from state actors.

What exactly is the point of this? Does Russia think a few drones will scare NATO countries enough to make them stop funding Ukraine? Its so stupid lol.
