Nonsense, this is about surveillance. The collection of information and then control. 1984 was meant to be a warning not a target.

Yeah right like the government could ban VPNs- there goes the main security feature on nearly every public sector and medium sized business laptop

Nothings of the table? What about parental responsibility and educating children?

‘Nothing off the table’ as Labour desperately tries to become the first government to have their poll numbers turn negative.
BTW, ProtonVPN is 75% off right now. Early Black Friday sale. Just over £2 a month for plus.

If their aim is to reduce the underage viewing of pornography ,Why not just use the same techniques that age gates the porn to age gate the VPNS ?

The hilarious news headlines this morning was that P*rhub has reported a huge drop in ‘visitors from the UK’ but in reality people in the UK visiting P*rnhub via a VPN would look like they’re in another country.
The OSA has stopped nothing and is only increasing the risk of personal data breaches, identity theft, fraud and government surveillance.

Nothing off the table?
Does that mean there’s no limit they will ban the internet if they have to?

The government can’t ban VPNs, too many businesses work off them especially with the WFH positions.
This was always a non-story.

Time to cut the undersea cables, put a tinfoil hat on the whole of the UK to block the satellites and, implement the government controlled UK intranet.
Alternatively, education could just be improved to assist parents in blocking content and to help people spot falsehoods.

It would be a legal mine field, and impossible to make law or implement. Every company uses them.
Go on try it you will only show every tech person how dumb labour is.
