A victory for the moaners, totally ignoring the vast amount of local people using the service and the local businesses thriving off it

The local D15 facebook group that is against this is hilarious.
A group of old people literally shaking their fists at the clouds.

Yeah I don’t even live in D15, I work out there and those things are fucking annoying I hate to have them flying around my own town noisy fuckers.

Its just the wrong technology. Its too noisy. Wait 5 years for road based robot delivery.

There’s no economical use case for these things. It’s a total waste of time. They’re way too expensive to waste delivering €30 of food. They’re also too loud and really intrusive. Amazon and others have loads of these but don’t use them because there is no economic use case. It’s just dumb. And annoying.

Very disappointing. Another victory for the NIMBYs

I could see a use case for these like delivering medication/devices to rural patients and such. But such use would be so incidental and sparse it would nearly be a novelty to see one in your area.
Having your neighbours burrito flying over your house on the daily is definitely something the world does not need.

I live smack bang in the flight path and they constantly fly over me while I’m outside, it’s definitely noticeable, especially in a park or quiet area. I could see it affecting people’s enjoyment of those because of it.
I’ve been aware of many deliveries, but honestly never once been disturbed by them in my house. They’re no noisier than the nearby road, traffic, train station, kids playing.
All that said I have a lot of sympathy for the economic argument. We don’t need takeaway meals in the sky – delivery drivers are doing it better for cheaper and the capacity of the drones is not high enough. We definitely don’t need gym and coffee hoodies, or books from easons in the sky.
I have a special bugbear about donuts and coffee in the sky. Nobody needs that. It’s just a waste of resources. Stick the kettle on and have a purple snack.
