At this point how much more counterproductive could this move possibly be?

Russia doesn’t have anything that could deter the US in its own extended backyard, whatever it could spare in military equipment and somehow get into Venezuela (e.g. S400 air defence systems) would be no match to the USN and USAF, it has no funds to spare or diplomatic clout that could convince the US to back off.

All this does is support the message that Venezuela is a rogue state and convince more people in the US (and wider West) to support an intervention. They’re angering people for no benefit.

Just reaching Venezuela would be a challenge for Russia. And even then reach with what?

How is Russia gonna help you when their naval forces can’t even get to the Mediterranean sea? Russia is a paper tiger.

Venezuela wants to confront the US, better start making deals with China and North Korea.

Only on Reddit would people think Russia could ever help any country that was truly invaded by the U.S. Russia would never make such a stupid decision. They can’t even handle Ukraine. China would also never risk it either. It’s also the same reality for Europe, multiple European countries easily have the capability to shit on Russia and that’s both alone or together.

Unfortunately for Reddit, there’s no universe in which Russia and China outside of nuclear MAD poses ANY sort of threat to America outside of propaganda brain rot.

Russia even had to give up the Tartus naval base, in a until then friendly country and in vicinity to Russia. So what does Venezuela excpect? Send the dead (if he is) cook of Putin?

When the U.S. parks an aircraft carrier off Venezuela’s coast, it’s a mission for stability and democracy promotion.
