I hope so. Currently its more of a burden than an advantage for the country. French is not promoting international exchange of cultures (or money), but rather just french.
I don’t think so. I’m looking at job offers and french is a prerequisite everywhere but 1 or 2 exceptions

I really think we should hold on to our multilingualism, it’s one of the best things about Luxembourg. French and German are a big part of that. Speaking four languages (and often more) by the end of high school is an amazing privilege we should appreciate.
That said, I do think English will naturally become the main language for business and everyday life in the future, while Luxembourgish stays the language of integration and the locals. The rise of English could actually help Luxembourgish: since everyone speaks English anyway, people won’t have to choose between French, German or Luxembourgish when they want to settle here long-term. That might make Luxembourgish the obvious first language of integration, with French and German still keeping us close to our neighbours and their cultures.

To reiterate what i said there:
Asti is out of touch with reality, there is an imbalance, but *heavily* in favour of french. It is everywhere, unavoidable.
In my original comment I asked what more they wished the government to d and concluded there simply was nothing left.
A thing I did not touch upon is that they warn that french is viewed as the language of others.
What do they even expect, as a native, yes it *is* the language of others, for the simple reason we are not french and not francophone.
This statement alone reflects how out of touch they are.
Again I invite anyone to debate me/correct me on this.

Asti published an opinion piece riddled with anecdotal evidence and arguments that could habe been taken straight from the L’essentiel comment section.
They fail to produce a single positive argument that would make anyone want to speak more French. Instead they chose to bash those who don’t bow down to French by essentially calling them backward peasants.
Anecdotally, the younger population seem to tend towards German, whereas the older generation are much more comfortable in French.
In any case, I feel like French is too present in Luxembourg. But, that’s also a consequence of importing workers, especially in sales and HORECA.
I live in a new neighbourhood with around 3,000 residents. Our main language here is English (e.g. at meetings or events), followed by Luxembourgish, then German/French depending on the microbubble.
