That’s the beauty of it, DB is late on almost all routes! 😀

Nah, you’re most likely going to be just fine. Delays happen sometimes but even with your connecting train you have 30 minutes buffer. If that isn’t enough you are free to take any train that gets you to your destination.

Yes DB is late often (in fact they’re only on time in 61% of cases), but eventually you’ll arrive at your destination 🙂 Sometimes even without delay.

Even if for example the train to Osnabrück is delayed,
    a) the train to Amsterdam MIGHT wait, depending on some stuff though I don’t know if they do it like that with cross-border trains
    b) if you end up missing the connection, you can take any train (shown with a symbol/notification), which the staff in the Netherlands (if they change it at the border) is aware off.

So, you should be fine, no matter what on that part of the trip.
As to the other trip, I am not aware of how Denmark handles stuff like that.

  3. Worst thing is that you get 25% or 50% of your ticket price back and take the next train in case you miss the connection.

As a commuter for many years: The worst thing you can do if something goes wrong with the DB is to A) panic and B) get annoyed at the staff.

Looks fine for me. I traveled in Italy recently by train, and after experiencing delays, strikes, wrong information etc., I have sworn to never complain again about DB.

  5. Yes, these are safe routes. The EC has no transfers, and the Osnabrück transfer is 30min with a failure chance of 1% according to bahnvorhersage.de. Even if something goes wrong, the routes are short enough that alternatives should be available given the time of day.

In the end you never know. It’s a game of luck. I traveled between Dresden and Berlin on Tuesday and Thursday and had and ICE completely cancelled and an IC delayed by 35min. You just don’t know before.

I just took the Copenhagen to Hamburg route very recently. It was fine with a slight delay but nothing significant like my 40 minute delay from Munich to Bremen last week. I would recommend bringing any snacks or food you like on the Copenhagen route. The snack cart wasn’t anything great to me.

Looks like your journey to Amsterdam is the next day or later. I’ve always felt like a 30 minute window worked for me when I went from Bremen to Osnabrück to Amsterdam.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Copenhagen to Hamburg picks up some delays, especially if they do a more extensive check at the border, but since you don’t have a connection after it shouldn’t be anything to worry about. 31 minutes at Osnabrück could be tight, but with only two stops, it might just work out providing there aren’t construction/problems with the track. It’s always kind of a “you’ll find out the day of” situation when it comes to Deutschebahn.
