Dodgy Old Man tries to be relevant.

      Up next, Sports and Weather.

    2. Now there’s a man who knows a lot about not being forgiven.

    3. SeoulGalmegi on

You know what else history won’t forgive, ahy? Ahy? Any trouble sleeping at night?

    4. Hopeful_Stay_5276 on

Do you think the world has forgiven us for 2003 yet?

    5. TheRadishBros on

He’s a subject matter expert on not being forgiven by history, so I’d listen to him on this.

    6. AlmightyRobert on

I thought he was having his second attempt at solving Middle East peace? Is that only part time?

    7. Sorry-Transition-780 on

He is an expert in not being forgiven by history after all…

    8. sorfetsca on

Wonder who he is lobbying for when he comes out with statements like this

    9. snakeoildriller on

Time for my standard **FUCK OFF TONY** comment. He’s no longer relevant and needs to understand that.

Aye history won’t forgive us when we power AI so good it causes billions of people to no longer have a job

    11. loveandpeaceandunity on

No Tony, history hasn’t forgiven you, for what you did in Iraq.

    12. technurse on

Dude surely has enough money and assets that he can just fade into quiet obscurity, instead here we are.

    13. A lot of people telling him to “f off” because of his politics but he’s absolutely right the UK has already fallen behind other nations in almost every technological aspect

    14. ItsAMangoFandango on

Yes Tony, THAT’S the thing you won’t be forgiven for

    15. Biscuit_Powered on

Probably why he keeps telling miliband to fuck off with the net zero shite which is driving up energy costs.

Without abundant and affordable energy, AI is a bust.

    16. You know It’s funny, of all the things that history won’t forgive the British political establishment of the last 20 years for, I’m prepared to bet a substantial sum of money that its failure to fully engage with quantum computing might not break the top 50.

    17. Anansi-the-Spider on

Ask an expert on quantum computing how many quantum computers we need and they will honestly say about 5 for highly specialised reasons generally it’s a false area of research

    18. FuzzBuket on

Surely it’s journalistic malpractice to even call him by his name and not just just Larry Ellisons UK pr agent

    19. nuclear-experiment on

The latest and greatest UK invention was a hoover… Quantum computing is a bit of a stretch given we can’t even build our own trains

    20. Salaries for people in tech in the UK don’t make us anywhere near capable of competing with America.

The UK might do some great work here, but many of our great hardware businesses either failed, sold out to the US, or were driven by US companies.

    21. Important-Room4251 on

History won’t forget, there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

    22. ShipRunner77 on

And Tony Blair will never be forgiven for dragging us into Iraq…….

    23. ___xXx__xXx__xXx__ on

The gall of Tony Blair to invoke a lack of forgiveness from history.

    24. ThinkAboutThatFor1Se on

Quantum computing, AI and Digital IDs.

What an amazing future Tony Blair has plans for.

    25. ammobandanna on

the irony of someone who history wont forgive, due to dragging us into the gulf war based on zero evidence, telling us history wont forgive us about something else is a little trite don’t we think…

    26. leahcar83 on

The article mentions PsiQuantum being developed by researchers at the University of Bristol and Imperial College London. It moved to the US after being funded by mostly American investors and even receiving a federal grant from the US.

It’s certainly not the only reason the UK is trailing in tech, but the continued failure to adequately fund our universities is contributing to this. I’m not sure if being slow to adopt quantum computing will be the end of the world, but it’s certainly worrying that other nations are willing to pay extortionate amounts for research our own government doesn’t seem committed to funding.

Why do we ever hear about what this guy has to say about anything?
