There have been calls by Gen Z in recent days to boycott visiting Dubai and the UAE due to the Gulf state’s backing of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of the war in Sudan.

It comes after the RSF – a UAE-backed militia – took over the city of el-Fasher in North Darfur from the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) on 26 October.

What has occurred there has been described as “Rwanda-style wave of hyper-violence” by The Yale University Humanitarian Research Lab, which has been monitoring the situation.

I think we all have good reasons, just that gen Z is new to the game.

So, it’s not the modern day slavery that got Gen Z activated?

I never got the hype for Dubai. It’s one of the most gaudy looking modern cities ever.

Then there are the poop orgies the rich hold there with white girls. The recent death case of a girl seems to have been buried after a short news cycle.

And now the sheikhs do the expected of financing atrocities.

Dubai should’ve been boycotted long ago.

The UAE and other gulf states literally run on slavery. There was no way on earth that I would give those states my own money.

Honestly who gives a shit what they say.

The UAE is way safer than Europe by now and unlike in Europe you won’t get blown up or stabbed by Islamists because they have their country under control while we pay unemployed Islamists billions to spread their sick ideology.

Our streets in Europe are full of niqabs while in the UAE you see happy Europeans living their lives in peace and safety…

      Oh my god

The left is finally starting to care about something other than Palestine

    8. All the Israel apologists saying younth didn’t care about other atrocities besides Gaza, where are you guys??

The war is basically Saudi Arabia murdering black Africans for land, food security, gold and natural resources.

      It’s nothing new.

In Sweden, there is a court case against oil executives (Lundin Oil Company) contributing to genocide in Darfur in the late 1990s early 2000s.

Arabs wanted to dig for oil, Swedish oil Company wanted to make money, but the native population needed to go and was murdered.

Gen Z are calling for it, eh? Impressive that indy100 has a direct line.

Couldn’t pay me to visit these countries already. I have to fly through occasionally (UK<->Australia) and no way you’d get me to step foot out the terminal in a place I deactivate my dating apps for because I’m queer.

Gen Z has money to travel to Dubai?

I thought they were broke because housing was too expensive.

    13. NeoNova9 on

Gen z has no money to travel so they can shut the fuck up .

    14. Dry-Piano-8177 on

I am Gen Z and I don‘t remember to be asked this question. Not that it would have made a difference in the result through. Never got it why people wanted to travel to Dubai except maybe as a stop over from long haul flights.

Dubai / UAE is a warning case of what happens when you have all the money in the world but no imagination.
They could build whatever they wanted, they could hire the best architects on the planet – but no… they built *that*!
One glimpse of optimism was a Masdar city near Abu Dhabi but they couldn’t finish it..

The UAE has been at it for decades, Saudi are following in their path because it has been extremely effective in making sure the western governments are compliant.

Dubai is kinda universally hated in the Arab World . Islamists hate it because it’s seen as too socially liberal. Liberals hate it because UAE has racist and oppressive treatment of its workers . Palestinian supporters hate it because UAE normalized relations with Israel without anything in return . Africans hate UAE for their support of RSF in Sudan as well as their growing colonial presence in Africa .

    18. Meet-me-behind-bins on

Careful what you wish for. All the people I don’t want to be near go to Dubai. Keep them all in one place.

    19. DavidlikesPeace on

      Genocide.

It’s simple enough to spell out. What is happening in Sudan is a wholly unprovoked, vicious, indefensible genocide. Even if no Russians or Israelis or Islamists are involved, it is vile.

Boycotting is the least folks can do. There is no strategic explanation, goal, or reason to support the UAE as it crafts a weird neocolonial empire in Darfur.

Land of degenerates and evil (for their support of RSF)
