      Meanwhile their customers, Eg Tesco made almost 3 billion in profit last year.

      So says some dodgy survey.
      – The survey is self reported. It’s not in any a farmers interest to admit making a large profit.
      – Making a “loss” can include a farmer paying themselves a huge salary. Thames water made a “loss” whilst issue in billions in dividends.
      – The numbers can also be skewed as 20 small farms making a combined loss of a few grand will outweigh a single large farm making millions in profits. Much like any industry; efficiencies of scale means small businesses will find it harder.

      I honestly don’t know if farmers are struggling more or less than everyone else at the moment. But they do certainly have a victim mentality and get a lot of publicity.
