Orbán’s big problem and contradiction in this matter is that while Hungary is formally a member of the EU, it nevertheless adopts a pro-Russian narrative and position that runs counter to the EU’s common policy.

      Slava Ukraini! 🇺🇦

This is the problem with any system that requires unanimous assent to make decisions or gives anyone absolute veto power. Absolute powers make democracy fail. There must always be a path to override a veto/blockade, though it should be difficult.

Orban doesn’t make sense. He says allowing Ukraine into the EU would drag Hungary into war. But he also says there will be peace if Zelensky accepts Russia’s “peace terms”. But if Russia will not invade Ukraine again if Ukraine accepts the Russian “peace plan”, how will Ukraine joining the EU drag Hungary into war?

Hungary shouldn’t be allowed to have any say in what the EU does, if anything they should face severe punishment unless they can cut all ties with Russia
