      Even at 5% (and it will drop back down) that’s still a very good unemployment rate

      It’s better than the EU average

      Certain major sectors, across the country, there are plenty of job opportunities and have been for a while. You see a lot of them (various age groups) last one week and then leave due to various reasons.

      The work’s too tough (that others are doing), take days off randomly, arrive late for start of shift, manage to have 2 hr breaks, are just asshole human beings etc.

      Reminder: in 2010, when Labour left office, the unemployment rate was 7.8%.

      When the Tories left office in Jul 2024, unemployment was 4%.

      Current unemployment rate is 4.8%

      The reserve army of labor, unemployment is a political choice to instill suffering on millions of people so wages stay low and capitalists can fire people easily. An underclass of precariats used to oppress the working class.
