The UK did not green light the invasion. Quit trying to pass blame onto others.
Cyprus was independent at this point. Greece, Turkey and the UK were all guarantors of Cyprus’s new found freedom. Turkey alone committed to going to war.
Generally no, this idea that the UK or America gave the green light is just a talking point. If Turkey was truly interested in peace in the island and not promote their nationalist interests they wouldnt continue occupying the island for 50+ years. Instead they are fearmongering the population both in turkey and the turk-cypriots that Cyprus is a threat which is total nonsense. The idea that a small place like Cyprus could pose any threat to Turkey which has one of the strongest armies in the world and 80+ million population is simply LAUGHABLE and only low iq people would believe any of this nonsense. Therefore, the blame imo goes to turkey which simply wants to promote its own nationalist interests and not any other western country
