Another pussy pass. The judge’s comments are horrific, she was drunk and killed her son. He’s called it a tragic accident and given her a slap on the wrist. Pathetic.

It’s interesting how if people get into a fight with someone punch them once and they die you’re charged instantly with man slaughter.
Do something worse in a vehicle though? Which requires constant decisions to continue to do because you can pull over any time?

The mother of the child – who was not driving – seems to have been given a suspended sentence for manslaughter by gross negligence for not strapping baby Harry into the car seat.
It would appear that the courts have ruled that the crash would have been survivable had the mother bothered to strap her child into the car seat, which may explain a sentence that feels lighter than it should.
I think they’re both shits.

If you choose to drink and drive and kill someone it should automatically be classed as manslaughter and a sentence imposed
If you are a passenger and allow someone to drive you then you should be equally culpable

Do judges hand out lopsided sentences on purpose, to like instil another layer of hopelessness into society at large? when can we ever get a break and feel some sense of fair play in the world. This woman’s actions led to the death of a child. She would have rather been out of her right mind on booze, than care for her child. This is the sentence that is supposed to reflect her massive failure that ended in death? This is supposed to be what a fair punishment in a just society looks like?
This doesn’t surprise me, a friends small child was killed by a drunk and drugged up driver only last year (A car he also had stolen and was speeding in) . Killed alongside his son were two adults. Guy got sentenced to only 6 years.
6 years for killing 3 people. The justice system is a joke.

I know a couple with 2 babies who have never once used their baby car seat: the father drives like an absolute maniac too.
A friend reported them to the police and told them where to catch them on their daily blitzkrieg through town but they said ‘we can’t act unless we ….. catch them’.
Driving whilst drunk should be attempted murder charge for wvery person you pass and if anyone killed then full murder.

I’m sorry but isn’t it the drivers fucking responsibility to ensure their passengers are all wearing a fucking seatbelt, or in this case, strapped in correctly?

It’s not bad fucking luck, this is a disgusting way to look at it. Putting my baby in the car means going through a safety checklist every time, that doesn’t make me lucky, it makes me competent.

Let’s not forget that this drunk driver is also a mother. In a way, locking her up would leave a child without a mother.. not sure if we should be punishing a second child in this sad and tragic story.
Why did the parents put a baby in someone’s car that had been drinking ?

The sentencing guidelines around drink driving need sorting. There is no excuse for it, it is well documented through campaigns and in the drivers theory test.
Personally I feel the starting point for anyone caught over the limit should be in line with assault with a deadly weapon and escalate from there if any person is hurt or for extreme amounts in the system.
