“*Former FG minister was busiest coaching Micheál Martin’s party around the general election

*Pearse Doherty singles out appearance by spin doctor just days before starting gun fired

*National broadcaster says Yates did not disclose his association with Fianna Fail ‘at any time’”

Before the usual suspects say anything – the issue here is rather obviously not disclosing his conflict of interest and the lack of transparency.

I really struggle to imagine who would want media training from Yates of all people. He’s not a broadcaster known for his strong interviewing skills. It’s hard to see the results in any of the clients that have been revealed.

      He’s mostly known as a particularly ~~rude~~ forthright ~~pub bore~~ political analyst.

I would doubt that part of the offer by Yates’ company Yewtree was that he’d go to bat for you and against your political enemies. It does seem that he did that anyway, and presumably his real opinions just happened to line up nicely.

Good to see the usual carryon from former government ministers and to quote the late Dermot Morgan “Argentinian Schmaltz peddlers” continues unabated. If they didn’t try it, we’d wonder were they alright.

RTE have been having political party hawks under the guide of “independent pundit” for years. Theres card carrying Fine Gael & Fianna Fail members on all the time but RTE never mention their affiliation. From political scientistics to data analysists & columnists.

RTE need to either stop platforming them or introduce them to their listeners accurately.
