      Sounds quite expensive. You can take bus Number 3. 17mins and its 3.15€ in the Föli app or 4.5€ cash i believe

      If it was 6 euro it would be expensive thank god its only 5.90 a real steal.

      How would a bus work? It kinda baffles me in Helsinki as well, when people complain that “short” (time) metro ride is expensive because few minutes. But then as soon as it’s instead short (distance) tramride, taking some times ceases being a point. And yet neither feels like it’s walkable

      There is not really short-length train service in Turku as far as I know, which explains the pricing. You should check out the local buses (Föli) for local transport and cheaper prices. That train goes all the way to Helsinki, and the pricing is according to that.

      You aren’t really supposed to use VR trains to travel within a city, but between them. Even the train is called *inter*city, meaning “between cities”.

      There’s no ” local” trains in Turku that’s the train to Helsinki hence the price. I suggest taking the bus, or walking that’s just a couple of kilometers.

      Well, maybe shouldn’t say this, but no one is ever going to check your ticket on that trip…

      That’s because long distance trains aren’t meant for that kind of commuting travel. Similarly Pasila-Tikkurila distance is 11€ if you want to take a long distance train, but about 4€ if you buy a HSL-ticket.

      I’d recommend taking a bus, or a bit more unethically “trying to buy the ticket on board” and hoping the staff won’t make their way to you in the 4 minutes.

      Well, the train you are talking about isn’t really a commuter train nor a tram.

      Everybody there uses bus, taxi, bike or so and you are literally the first person to mention about this.

      Why would anyone take a train from Logomo to Kupittaa

      I suspect it’s partly because your seat would be more probably empty between Kupittaa and Helsinki, which is not optimal.

      Not one to instigate this very highly criminal and unethical behaviour, but I doubt any conductor will be around checking for your ticket between Logomo and Kupittaa…

      Check what the cost for 2min train experience would be.

      That’s a long-distance train, not local transportation. But I’m fairly sure the ticket inspector won’t even check any tickets between the main station and Kupittaa so if one had no morals they could just hop in and hop out without a ticket.

      Then again, they only start checking the tickets after kupittaa.

      Usual VR pricing policy.

      As mentioned earlier – there is not commuter train service in Turku yet. So all trains are operated by VR.

      If VR sees demand on services, prices will float higher and higher.
