Does anyone know how big an impact not having built major reservoir since 1992 would have here? Or any reason why they’re not being built anymore?
But nothing too drastic like nationalising the water companies or anything.

This isn’t some law of nature that we just have to work around, it’s the result of intentional government policy to have liberal immigration through the 21st century.
There are some genuine climate related issues with how rain falls and how quickly it evaporates in summer, too. But this is pretty obviously the main cause.
I suppose building reservoirs and fixing the leaky pipes that lose literally billions of litres of water per day is out of the question
