I know it’s a television audience, but the enthusiasm in their cheers kinda underscores just how popular and beloved the man was in the role. Heck, the guy had a whole range of children’s books based off his “Nation’s Grandad” energy and goodwill (which have been thoroughly enjoyed my ours).

I’ve been in the UK for a decade and a half now so I know very little about the man. From what I’ve seen and heard, he just comes across as being so likeable, so compassionate and so literate and intelligent. He’s almost an icon in his own right.

I hope he only has good things ahead of him.
