I’d say there are a lot of pharmaceuticals that could probably help offenders. I definitely feel like the kids I went to school with who went onto crime definitely exhibited ADHD type behaviours.

Of course the flip side of giving all prisoners Adderall is that some just became really focused and efficient at doing crime, but I’ll take the risk.

Great idea, anything we can be doing to help with offenders’ future prospects will improve recidivism. It surprises me not one jot that criminals often have ADHD, as often it’s their impulsivity that lands them in prison in the first place, exacerbated by poor performance at school from their inattention, meaning they have fewer career options beyond crime.

It’s a good idea in theory, but in reality it just means they will all be put on a 7 year wait list for treatment like everyone else.

    4. I’ve seen stats which suggest that a majority of the prisoner population is diagnosable with ADHD, as somebody with ADHD it’s a bit of a “there but for the grace of god go I” stat for me…

Schemes like this are brilliant ideas, if we give offenders tools to deal with the outside world and properly help them adjust we might actually be able to reduce recidivism rates!

A smart, mature, reasonable move. These are the kind of painfully obvious approaches society needs to take to understand human mental health. Of course that means it won’t be implemented nationwide

I’m one of three kids, all of us have been diagnosed with ADHD as adults, my eldest brother in hindsight was one of those people who if he hadn’t of managed to sort himself out likely would’ve ended up like this as out of the three of us he was the one who basically was the ‘stupid reckless teenager’

As someone with ADHD and Autism, This is a fantastic idea and I just hope that it works out as intended.
