You could make an argument that those are 12 of the best countries/territories to be in, and have been for much of the past 40 years and that costs are simply a reflection of high salaries and an extremely high collective standard of living.

I went to Norway ten years ago and found it eye wateringly expensive. Given how quick those ten years have passed I am not surprised at all to see Ireland now more expensive

Interesting how many on the list are small countries with disproportionally large financial or multinational sectors

So we are 43% cheaper than NYC , FfFG rock😎

This is in absolute terms, it doesn’t take salaries into account. So it’s basically just a list of countries with a lot of money in them.

I’m not surprised Switzerland is 2nd. I paid €150 for a lunch for 2 adults and 2 kids 3 weeks ago in Zurich. That’s 2 pasta dishes, 2 pizzas with 1 beer, 1 wine, coke and water.

I used to live in Dublin and went to Denmark to get married. Everyone told me how expensive it was. But it just didn’t feel like it was.

Greed is good FFG. Another 5 or 10 years and they’ll sell it as a success of having turned the country into something aspiring to Monte Carlo; where the rich live/you’re doing well if you own a home there.
Driving the youth out, pushing the profit optics while ignoring the rip off culture and zero value. Widening the gap between the haves and have nots, with thousands falling between the void and working just to pay rent or barely survive.
A divided land, especially one that equates wealth with value, opportunity and merit,…is a land destined to see a clash between those divided.

I remember going to Norway 10+ years ago, was blown away by how expensive everything was. Looking at a comparison now, [https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/compare_cities.jsp?country1=Ireland&country2=Norway&city1=Dublin&city2=Oslo](https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/compare_cities.jsp?country1=Ireland&country2=Norway&city1=Dublin&city2=Oslo) Everything is still much higher. Surprised that rents are much lower there and childcare is actually affordable there.
