      Incredible this was kept quiet since Friday. Clearly the Gardai are not quite the “West Brit establishment” that some Sinn Fein supporters have claimed because it surely would have been leaked sooner if that was the case.

      They had *no choice* but to expel the member — the optics were awful, and Sinn Féin couldn’t afford to appear lenient. But don’t be surprised if at the first convenient moment they quietly reinstate them anyway — keeping the door open preserves internal flexibility and public deniability.

      A non story – let’s be real here.

      Would this article have come out if it were a FG or FF member? As a pop-up ‘breaking news’ notification on a phone? Wow – maybe anyone who’s partner commits a suspected
      crime should be disbarred from being a party member?

      Every party has thousands of members. You can’t expect comprehensive vetting of them all. The usual suspects are already here on the case I see.
