For fucks sake. We finally get a sensible plan and they panic. No wonder this country is fucked.

We are back to printing money, raising inflation and hammering any entrepreneurs. Because god knows they won’t be making cuts

People who are celebrating this are naive as it comes. Now they’ve done this they’re going to have to find significant money elsewhere. Meaning pretty much everything and anything is going to be cut.
This is just proof that the country is just heading closer and closer to bigger disaster. If people leading the country who claim to want to fix things can’t do what they want to do because they’re worried they’ll lose their jobs then how can real change ever be possible?

Omfg. Just give us the budget so we can whine about the actual budget and not a million things that might or might not happen.

Crazy idea… let’s just wait and see what the budget says

I genuinely cannot wait for this budget to come out, purely so we can end all these wildly varying and speculative articles on what’s going to be in it.

So you gonna cut costs? No….
Okay… Then you gonna raise tax? No…
Okay…. So you gonna print More money and borrow more money and drive the country in to more debt plus raise inflation?
Yes as I’ve got no other card to play.

They went to the money shop, spent all their political capital on a little bit of cash, then handed back the cash and walked out. The adults are back in the room!

This is becoming more embarrassing than the Tories at this point.
Plan your budget and execute it, how can anyone trust any of the decisions made when they seem to be on the basis of media smell tests?
Can’t see Starmer lasting beyond the May elections.

Also reeves everytime asked: we haven’t decided the budget yet

Honestly bring back purdah so we don’t have this flip flopping nonsense all the time.

I truly despise the new way of taking serious political decisions:
1) Leak plan
2) Gauge reaction
3) Change course —> rinse and repeat until you run out of time
We need politicians with big cojones ready to make difficult choices: WFA should have been binned completely (maybe with an increase of other benefits to compensate where needed)…triple lock HAS to go…
Bold choices may cost votes in the short term, but they will improve the economy as they take away perceived risk which we pay in terms of increased interest rates.
in the meantime we have migration slowing down, NHS waiting times decreasing and other reforms taking hold (renters, workers rights)…
Labour may end up getting a lot right and be voted out for being too cautious on the economy.

This government is unbelievably weak. I just don’t understand the point of them at all… but the alternative is truly terrifying. I will be holding Labour responsible for anything Reform do, because they had a chance to do things differently. What a missed opportunity.
