      The issue with using government ID for verification, is that those sites become honeypot, causing all sort of problems with pishing, blackmail and worse. It causes harm to the citizens.

      Government should FIRST develop a way to ensure that the verification is done without any chance of the site holding storable information. Something like emitting a government service generating a one time code.

      Sites shouldn’t have to store all government information just to check if age is above 18.

      You wouldn’t upload a photo of your ID literally anywhere but governmental websites, why the fuck would you do it for sketchy AF fucking porn sites?

      May as well upload it to 4chan.

      Haha, in Ukraine it is literally a criminal offense to make, share or store porn, up to 7 years in prison, which makes it impossible to legally watch porn because while you watch it you are technically downloading it on your device, and yet zero pornsites are banned or have this age verification stupidity lol

      by the way, i’m just curious cause i’ve never tried one, if you go into a brothel in germany, austria or wherever they are legal, do you have to provide ID? will they write down your identity?
