The most disturbing part of this case is the practitioner’s attitude. As reported, he couldn’t explain what treatments he gave, kept little to no records, and acted as though basic accountability didn’t apply to him. Charging large sums while providing vague answers at an inquest shows a shocking lack of professionalism and respect for a vulnerable elderly patient. Whatever one thinks of alternative medicine, this kind of behaviour is unacceptable. Ireland needs stronger oversight so no one can hide behind “alternative” labels to avoid standards that protect the public. This case makes that painfully clear.

Charlatans
Punish them to the full extent of the law

That’s very upsetting that he was injecting her with medication. Then having no records about it screams a very shady practice.

This kind of quackery should be illegal.

It’s not “Alternative medicine”, it’s alternative *to* medicine.

This shit really needs to be cut out, they’re scamming sick people out of their money, selling them false hope and only making their conditions worse

Did anyone see the “faith healer” being interviewed on Prime Time, complaining about being “scammed” by DJ Carey? Zero shame.
DJ Carey’s faith healer: ‘I didn’t realise somebody could stoop to that level’
The number of people I’ve met who use chiropractors, acupuncturists, and all manner of hocus pocus bullshit is frightening. Some of these people very well educated.
These charlatans seem to practice with impunity while doctors are sending people to A&E for stitches for fear they’ll be sued.

There was a huge expose on Paschal Carmody by Joe Duffy in 2004. The whole thing is batshit.
