I didn’t think we had stolen valour laws in the UK, provided you aren’t committing other offences?
For example, abusing your fake position to gain something of material value, trying to enter a Naval base or other secure area, abusing people’s trust to gain something, etc.
The guy is clearly a bit odd, a proper Walter Mitty type, but didn’t seem to be doing any harm. The earlier article where it was “under investigation” says he was very respectful at the service and didn’t cause any trouble in the slightest. Indeed, that’s partly what got him recognised as a possible faker, because they were quite honoured to have such a “high ranking officer” at the service and people started to look into it more.
Makes you wonder how often this happens – if it wasn’t for faking such a high rank (rear admiral is a rare rank, only 25 in the Royal Navy, but note that is the Google AI answer so is probably wrong) and wearing a medal that hasn’t been issued to any living rear admirals, he’d probably have got away with it.
Seems a bit odd to arrest him though, and I wonder what he’s being potentially charged with?

Terrible facial disfigurement from his time in combat.
Is cosplay now a crime in Starmer’s Britain?
Sorry
IS COSPLAY NOW A CRIME IN STARMER’S BRITIAN?
InB4 GB News claims he’s arrested for wearing a poppy
Not his first outing in that set of medals either.
It seems he also claims to be a Harvard graduate…. but isn’t.

Why is admiral the default choice of [cosplayers](https://www.alamy.com/the-right-honourable-dame-arlene-foster-lately-first-minister-of-northern-ireland-is-made-a-dame-commander-of-the-british-empire-by-the-princess-royal-at-windsor-castle-the-award-was-for-public-and-political-service-picture-date-tuesday-november-8-2022-image490402705.html)?
Admiral is so needlessly ballsy. You could almost certainly get away with Captain, and Commander’s just a free lunch.
What’s the charge? enjoying some succulent stolen valour?
Imagine thinking “Yes, I will dress up as an Admiral a group of personnel who almost all certainly know each other”
Such a high risk low reward play.
There’s only *35* of them.
He’s not the only one with a row of medals of uncertain provenance
ok, he’s a dick and probably should be shamed for this.
but come on, why the fuck is this a criminal offense?
He’s not actually harmed anyone, sure he’s offended some people, but that should not be criminal ffs.
what an absolute waste of police time.
