I like how the headline leads with probably the most innocuous thing the teacher said or did.
That’s not enough to get fired. Let’s continue reading…
>Science supply teacher Carolyn Akers also told the pupil he would ‘grow up to be transgender’ and hit him on the head with a booklet
Hitting is a big no no for teachers these days. Also…
>She was investigated in 2018 for making inappropriate comments to pupils and putting a scientific clamp on a pupil’s nose.
The Independent is a clickbaiting rag.
Why did she even become a teacher?
“Carolyn Akers, who was working as a science supply teacher at a school in Weymouth, also told the pupil that they “will be transgender” when they grow up and hit the student on the head with a booklet.”
“Once the investigation began, it emerged that Ms Akers had been under another separate investigation at her former school, Queen Elizabeth’s. She was investigated in 2018 for making inappropriate comments to pupils and putting a scientific clamp on a pupil’s nose.”
So I went to this school.
Something which I’m very surprised is not mentioned in the article, is this teacher is the wife of the former head teacher of the school David Akers, who was jailed a few years ago for multiple historical paedophilia offences.
I mean I’m pretty sure we had teachers say worse than that to us in the late 90s
We treated our supply teachers much the same in return TBF
