      Read somewhere that Eli Lily exported 42bn worth of product from Ireland in the first 5months of this year.
      Total exports were around 70bn….. I think we rely of big pharmaceutical companies more.

      Trick is to use the reveneu to improve infrastructure, so that next round of companies will be attracted to ireland

      These pieces always present it as if there’s an alternative. The alternate state is non of this MNC investment and a poor country. There isn’t one simple trick to be at the levels of wealth and spending we have without being reliant on this.

      A ‘rich country’ that barely anyone in upcoming generations can afford a home in?

      That’s not a rich country – that’s a country where the class divide is so steep, that it has a rich nobility and a piss poor underclass who will own nothing, and be told they’re/rich happy.
