As the US slides into fascism, it seems to be engaged in this sort of permanent revolution mindset where it tries to export its obscurantism.
As the lines draw near, european countries need to start to call a duck a duck, a fascist a fascist, and shut down these movements lest we end up with these oligarch-financed reactionaries throughout all levels of european government.
It is not too late, but we’re getting there. Or maybe I’m too optimistic, and there’s no way to prevent the corruptive influence of money on democracy under capitalism.
When someone does to you everything you can’t prevent, it’s called WAR. We are in a war to defend our way of life, and we have to fight it-ready or not. Our fate is in our hands.
I mean, they’ve been messing with Europe since the end of WW2. Not everything was bad tough, it was still better than fall into the sphere of influence of the USSR, and for some time Europe had enormous benefits from the Marshal Plan and american help. But it’s the old dilemma, we traded our freedom for our security, and in the end, if something is beneficial for the american empire and not for Europe, Europe will accept it. Many president in history were more diplomatic about that, trying to sugarcoat it to not make us look weak, Trump and his administration instead treats us as vassals without any resemblance of diplomacy, and our politicians just agree to everything he says, because let’s face it, we have no cards to play in this moment in time, our entire system has been financialized around the american economy and our military security depends on them and on their bases on our soil.
Oh come on, we are too busy f’ing up our own lives here.
