It happens anywhere with govt contracts of any kind. It’s easy to promise you can build something and take a big check then squander it all.

It sure does. All sorts of fraud perpetrated by people we are supposed to be able to trust, and have supposedly been vetted, here in UK.

I used to know a guy who investigated that kind of thing in the US. He died of natural causes a couple years back, but only made it that far because he was a quick thinker and smooth talker.

Expect the usual influx of Russian bots. Regardless, it is positive that these fraudulent individuals are being identified. Instead of sweeping this under the rug, they are demonstrating a transparent effort to combat corruption, which is an essential criterion for EU membership.

After serving in the US army, I can definitely say with confidence that our military industrial complex is so pervasive and extensive with fraud that we’re slowly turning into the Russian army. Outdated tech, new tech becoming unreliable etc

Is Australia fighting for survival?
There’s no reason to excuse this, just because it happens elsewhere.
Glad they’re taking it seriously though

True. The war has made western defense fraud very apparent. It works a little differently here… It’s not theft, just all the money goes to the most expensive, most high end things and no money to basics. Artillery shells? Who needs them, too old fashioned. New stealth fighter? Oh yeah, definitely, let’s design not one but three
That’s why the US only had less than 1 million artillery shells to send to Ukraine in 2022. Making artillery shells (or anything really simple and basic like that) is just not very lucrative, so “somehow” it doesn’t get almost any of the budget
