    1. especially relevant with the Steam release and (marketing) 1.0 drop right now
The article is carefully worded and it goes way beyond Escape from Tarkov avoiding commenting on the war. They did post showing the middle finger to allegedly Ukrainians with ingame graphics during the invasion.
Link: [Escape from Tarkov’s developers showed the middle finger to the stylized soldier of the Ukrainian Armed Forces – AIN](https://en.ain.ua/2022/12/30/escape-from-tarkovs-developers-showed-the-middle-finger-to-the-stylized-soldier-of-the-ukrainian-armed-forces/) (2022) during the hot phase of the invasion of Ukraine. The picture is unlabeled but the yellow armband which the Ukraine forces use, the helmet and the camo as well as the timely event does suggest a suspicious about the devs intention.

The lead dev appearing directly on the team podcast as well as the ceo helping the fundraising for military gear for the invaders. Nikita shooting side by side with military group

[Picture of Hors making fun of dead Ukrainians](https://imgur.com/a/JKUotok)

The military group 715 with the slogan “train hard” is plastered all over the ingame environment of the game as well as items like armbands. The military group 715 has seen active combat in Ukraine, Hors broke his leg.

as someone living in Europe we are actively helping Ukraine with funds to protect their citizens (US, Canada, South Korea and Japan too) and embargo Russia in other products, it does feel bad “also funding the enemy” to shoot rockets and drones at our friend’s citizens, hospitals and schools

With the Steam release and 1.0 drop (marketing version 1.0) the revenue might end up in cruel places

Not sure why would anyone play that r*ssian garbage

I have enjoyed playing Tarkov for a long time, and played it waaaay before the war started.

Now though, I would never buy ANYTHING russian

This news is over 3 years old now and some of the info is outdated. Wargaming left Belarus and ruzzia some time ago and their former assets have been nationalised since then.

20$ is this is the Chinese ABI devs trying to smear EFT lol

I actually just bought these games, big thanks to OP for bringing them to my attention! They look like a lot of fun!

I just want to provide a more neutral perspective here,

These guys are just game devs that want to make games, and they happen to live in a country where criticism of their government or the actions of their government leads to dire consequences.

If these guys said anything bad about Putin, they’d be then sent to the frontlines as Storm troopers, and then we’d be here again twisting our undies complaining how they’re part of the invading force into Ukraine.

Or if they decided to flee their country, then we’d be complaining how they’re pussies and they’re taking up resources and space as refugees and they should stay with their Putin, or die fighting (or go “missing” with their family) against Putin.

No matter what these guys do, they’re gonna be hated.

    8. It makes me sick to my stomach that I paid 100 for Tarkov back in 2020. I have not played it since the invasion. Fuck these monsters.

Please make people aware of this if they’re thinking of buying it. Make as many people aware of this as you can especially with the steam and 1.0 release today.

How the sanctions did not block them from publishin on Steam is something I wonder.

    10. Lol because everyone must be vocal about their political opinions

Will people also stop using Steam now the USA is just randomly bombing fishermen in the Carrabean, or providing billions of dollars of weapons to facilitate a genocide in Gaza? I doubt it, cause that would inconvenience gamers.

Yeah I’m sorry for my comment but cmon, it’s just a game. Literally. Europe still buys oil and gas from the orks, in a quantity that makes buying the game absolutely meaningless. Fuck Russia, but the games they made are great and i don’t feel bad at all playing them.

    13. VicenteOlisipo on

Not surprising considering they just flat out nationalised WarGaming Russia (of World of Tanks fame) for pro-Ukraine things WarGaming Europe did.

Unpopular opinion. People who lived most of their lives in democracies should STFU. You probably don’t have any friends who were thrown to prison for many years because of the tweet (I do). Nor were you thrown out of your university or lost your job because of your political stance (happened to my friend). Your life cannot be ruined by any fucking official or a police “officer” in a minute. You’re not risking losing your freedom, property or personal safety when you’re voicing your opinions. You’re not risking going through the actual multi-day torture when you do this. Do you expect a tiny game studio to start a revolution or what? Do you understand that they are not saying anything because they can’t? Sure, people in Ukraine are going through something which is much worse. But it doesn’t make a situation any different. You can’t overthrow the tyrannical government by writing things online.

      PS
I do support Ukraine and wish then to win and take back their homes.

Along with Russian made games, I also don’t play American made videos games because of Trump.
