L’addetto alla difesa del Belgio a Washington DC, il generale di brigata Bart Verbist, si è dimesso dopo aver commentato il presidente degli Stati Uniti Donald Trump. Giovedì il quotidiano “De Morgen” ha pubblicato un articolo in cui viene citato il generale di brigata Verbist che descrive la presidenza Trump come "caratterizzato da caos e imprevedibilità".
Onestamente, ha appena affermato la verità! ed era anche troppo educato al riguardo. È ridicolo che debba dimettersi. Che governo corrotto hanno negli Stati Uniti

So we live in a world where stating a tiny bit of truth leads to resigning, and where telling lies allows you to keep your position for years.

This was already discussed on the other Belgium reddit.
The job of a diplomate is to communicate with the local regime, no matter how shitty that regime is (“you don´t need diplomacy to talk to your friends”)
It is never a good thing as a diplomate to be critical of the host country (see also: the USA ambassador to the Netherlands sent by Trump 1 who got roasted by the press)
Clearly that trust/line of communication is broken, so it is best for all involved for that diplomate to withdraw himself.
He will go back to Brussels and get a new assignment.
