I remember the story and it sounded ridiculous at the time. I wanted to make some reasoned comment responding to this story about another cost to the public purse, but I can’t.
Events like this are sucking the will to live out of me. Maybe that’s the point?
As long as people aren’t sacked for this and lose their pension this will never end.
People at positions of power need to be made personally liable for their stupid decisions.
Government created problem rather than a police one, as politicians simply refuse to reform laws on speech and the police can’t just ignore the law. Stuff like this should be a civil matter unless the threat is imminent and one of the many reasons it’s well beyond time for a codified constitution.
