How long until we have to install government mandated app (like the new MAX app in russia) on our phones here in the EU?
Maybe we won’t have to, it will come preinstalled on all new devices (without the ability to remove it).
So currently we have:
1. Chat Control: private messages, yummy
2. Protect EU: we need to fight crime so we need to break your encryption, rights under articles 7 and 8 be damned.
3. Digital Omnibus: well, those pesky rights people seem to have are an obstacle let’s slash them up a bit. GDPR sucks for information control, we need more to develop AI.

Not just a decline in internet anonymity but also an increase in censorship. My entire twitter feed is “we can’t show you this until we estimate your age” and when i bypass that shit it’s just a random meme that will display in the next post.
