  1. Aircraft carrier is not only about actual manufacturing it

Operating it requires specialisation and experience. You can’t just grab sailors from other sector and dump them in aircraft and hope it will work out.

Every country that currently operate a Naval Carrier have been historically operating it.

America, France, Britain and Italy? The were there from the beginning since Aircraft carrier was a thing.

India?, Inherited the legacy and institutional knowledge from Royal Indian Navy, and made sure to always operate a carrier so they wouldn’t loose the know-how.

Even china had problems operating their Aircraft properly, which resulted in them extensively recruiting british navy officers for training them.

Why? What’s the point of building an AC? Is Turkey going to start projecting power in the Atlantic?

The only threat against Turkey is Russia and possibly local regional conflicts. All of which can be better addressed with planes from Turkish bases, missiles or drones instead of a boondoggle of an aircraft carrier, with which Turkey has zero experience

Honestly, with Turkey building two modified Juan Carlos I-class landing helicopter docks, and given they lack carrier capable fixed wing aircraft, this seems like an odd decision.

I fail to see the point.

But I’m sure it’s linked to the fact that Turkey is still fixated and obsessed on Ottoman Empire territories.

We desperately need new tech both in aerospace and nautical.

We had carriers for like 100 years.

If I were New Zealand, I’d really reconsider cat culling plans now.

I truly admire Turkey for being to develop their industrial and military might completely on their own while us in Europe advance 20 times slower.

  9. Curious how Turkey with a rather bad economy is stemming all those rather big military projects by themselves, like the 5th gen Kaan program and now even an aircraft carrier.

Turkey’s obsession with gigantic flags has reached new levels

Seems like you’re a little late to the party. Drones have taken over aerial warfare. Seems like a dedicated drone launch ship would be a better use of money.

Did someone also told them the cost of maintaining a carrier like this ?

There is a reason why not many own those and it is not because it is hard to build one but build a good working one that can be maintained well so it don’t become Kuznecov Class floating junkyard.

Getting ready for Armageddon? It is billed as the battle to end all battles. It will be a “come as you are war”, or dies as you are war.
