Is anyone actually shocked by this?
The depot in Maynooth got its planning permission rejected due to flooding concerns while the track work was approved. However, even if the tracks get upgraded and electrified they won’t be able to offer a proper service as without the new depot there isn’t enough storage and maintenance for new Dart trains
outrageous how slow things happen
Delays, who would be surprised
Any reason given for the slippage?
Colour me shocked. We don’t do projects well so it’s not a surprise.
More the expectation really.
Any update on the status of the Dart+ northern line?
Actually kind of expected with how glacial the planning system is here
Really? An irish infrastructure project was delayed? Say it aint so
Planning is really killing it. Even the part of Dart+ West that got approved is under judicial review, afaik.
go look at the Transport 21 plan…issued in 2005

The issues with the Dart upgrades also illustrate how useless the claim that IÉ could build a rail link to the airport in five years is. These are comparatively modest upgrades to existing lines and will still take the bones of a decade. That would be a whole new line and involve at least two challenging areas for the line to run through (immediate airport area and a big new crossing over the M1).
Is this all the Dart+ lines or one specific one?
