    1. Can somebody help a stupid German to understand the details? 

      I mean… You have the Myvatn somewhere in the northeast, and I think Myvatn translates to mosquito lake. And when I was there 2016(?) it was full of these bastards. 

      So is this just a translation issue?

    2. Mosquitos thrive in far colder climates than Iceland. Their absence there is probably a mere fluke due to Icelands isolation and its relatively young age, a mere 20ish million years.

      I got plenty of bites there this summer. Can confirm. There were more than 3.

      I don’t know, maybe mosquitoes in Iceland empathize with nature and have self-birth control, but this summer here was something unbearable…

      Travel and tourism suitcases, I have often had a couple in my flat after a trip. Even got bitten on the plane home

      Been there until yesterday. Have seen a mosquito in our guesthouse for sure.
